The Alaskan Governor Bill Walker opened up the process of developing an education reform for the people. In order to influence the reform by the population’s opinion about the children’s education from kindergarten to high school, he introduced an online survey.
Walker aims for an education system that qualifies the students to attend continuous training in the many sectors of the society, whether it is in the workforce or in technical education courses, college or university, military or apprenticeships. This approach requires a reconsideration of the public education. “We must do a better job of preparing our youth for the challenges of the future,” the Governor said.
The survey is available online and will be closed on Febrary 28th. The State Board of Education will present a final report with the results by December 29th.
